All good things come to an end. I'm sorry to say that Atlantic Oldies 2NG ceased broadcasting on Sunday 24th April. Royalty rates went up and there is a lot of uncertainty in licensing. That and with a steady decline in listeners it became very clear we were on borrowed time.
The emails and messages I received were fantastic and I do appreciate them and over the years and more so these recent months. The decision was hard but with costs way higher than December it became an expensive hobby. Work this year has been exhausting and with a young family it's very difficult to find the time to market, program and run Atlantic Oldies 2NG.
Some of you offered to donate to the running costs, however the main downside is that our royalty costs are based not only on listener hours but also income. The more you donate, the more the costs go up. The odds are stacked against us in 2016 and so time to hang up the stylus!
I also want to say thanks to Bill Rollins, Roger Davies, Dave Nicholas, Mike Landecker and Pete Revell who all did shows specifically for us as well as all the syndicated shows. Richard Todd, Kurt David, Mike Walker and Chuck Taylor/Rick Williams. I was very fussy on who did shows, and it worked. We gave you the best Internet Radio has to offer. All professional and all for the love of radio. Many do shows on other stations and just click on the names above or on the SHOW menu above.I appreciate your patience, thank you for listening and feel free to get in touch. Myself, I can still be heard on BigL as Rick Ainley.
